The hike to the Overlook Mountain Fire Tower is steep, but worth the climb. Pass by hotel ruins before reaching the great views at the fire tower.
This loop provides lots of the great views and historical sites the North and South Lake area has to offer. It’s a relatively flat and easy 7-mile loop.

Stop by Brio’s Restaurant and Pizzeria on Main Street in Phoenicia for a quick bite. The make amazing specialty pizzas but also have a huge menu. It’s one of the only spots in town for lunch or dinner on the weekends, but it’s a good one.
The Catskill Mountain Storehouse is one of the only outfitters in the area, but they might be the only one you need. Located right on Main Street in Phoenicia, they have all kinds of outdoor gear for sale and even gear rentals.
Though this hike is short, it’s under moderate due to sheer elevation gain. It’s a beautiful and short climb to some great views at the ledges, as well as great camping spots.
The Saugerties Lighthouse is a super easy and quick hike to a beautiful and historic lighthouse. It’s a perfect chance to pack a picnic and learn about the Hudson River.
